This calls for age-friendly environments and communities where older people can remain active and engaged in society. Considering the specific qualities of an ageing population, R&I initiatives should try to contribute to the definition of inclusive and multidisciplinary intervention strategies such as adjusting urban and rural architecture fostering new models for participation in the labour market, etc.
